Janice Mathews-Gordon
EXPERIMENTAL MIXED-MEDIA PAINTER
Through my abstract acrylic paintings, I capture aspects of our common human experience. Sometimes my paintings reflect personal journeys. Other times, they serve as broader social commentary. Always, my paintings represent some facet or quality of our humanness: an idea, an emotion, a concept, a train-of-thought. And evident in all is my extensive graphic design background, influencing my compositions and bold color arrangements.
ALL MY SISTERS
Expressions of women, of lives, of hope.
Solo Exhibition
AT JRB ART AT THE ELMS
August 2019
This new series of abstract paintings are bold expressions of women. A personal tribute to my four sisters and the feminist mother who raised us, the exhibition also celebrates the lives and hopes of all women – my sisters in the broader sense.
